Any orthodontic treatment, including Invisalign, comes with some soreness. The good news is that this sensation will be short-lived. Plus, it can be easily alleviated with a few best practices in place. That includes avoiding hard\/crunchy foods the day you switch your aligners, sipping on cold water, using a cold compress, and taking an over-the-counter pain reliever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. It\u2019s a Commitment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although Invisalign is relatively hassle-free, it still requires a commitment. To stay on-track with your treatment plan, it\u2019s essential that you abide by your dentist\u2019s instructions \u2013 like wearing your aligners for 22 hours a day and not drinking coffee with your trays in \u2013 from start to finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. You Might Need to Take a Break from Lipstick<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Naturally, your lipstick may transfer onto your aligners throughout the day. Since this can cause your teeth to look discolored, you may want to take a break from lipstick during your treatment. Otherwise, you can opt for a lip stain, which should stay in place better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Brushing and Flossing After Each Meal Is a Must<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To keep your teeth (and your trays!) in pristine condition, it\u2019s of the utmost importance that you brush and floss your teeth after each meal. To make this easy whether you\u2019re at work or on-the-go, keep a travel-sized toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. You Need to Be Mindful of Your Coffee Intake<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s true; you can\u2019t drink coffee with your aligners in. Not only will hot coffee warp your trays, but this habit can increase your chances of discoloring your aligners. So, make sure to always remove your aligners and store them in their designated storage case beforehand. It\u2019s also a good idea to drink your coffee alongside your meal to minimize the time you have them out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the above information in mind, you\u2019ll be significantly more prepared for your Invisalign treatment!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
